Houston Dutch Lions FC PDL Players Made Impact Against Columbus Crew (U23)

On Tuesday, July 29th the Houston Dutch Lions FC USL PDL players and several USL PRO players from the Dayton Dutch Lions FC won the game on the training ground of the MLS team the Columbus Crew. The Lions won after a goal from Houston Dutch Lions FC midfielder Wessel Verhaar by an assist from the forward of the Houston Dutch Lions FC, Javier Vazquez. Final score Columbus Crew (U23) 0-1 Dutch Lions FC.

The Houston Dutch Lions FC USL PDL players were training with the Dayton Dutch Lions FC USL PRO team. A group of talented USL PDL players was formed to train with the USL PRO team for a week.

The main objective of this week was to get a better view of which USL PDL players from the Houston Dutch Lions FC have the potential to represent the Dutch Lions FC on a level higher. Goalkeeper Emmanuel Frias, defenders Cameron Free and Michael Stewart, midfielders Wessel Verhaar and David Perez and last but not least forward Javier Vazquez made the trip to Dayton, Ohio.

Dayton Dutch Lions FC Technical Manager Sid van Druenen said the following: ‘Seeing USL PDL players from the Houston Dutch Lions FC at work here in Dayton, Ohio is great for the relationship between both clubs. For the players, it is a great platform to show if they have what it takes to play soccer on the USL PRO level.

The Houston Dutch Lions FC USL PDL players are traveling back home this week where they had a great experience in Dayton, Ohio. The level was very challenging for the USL PDL players where they all gained a tremendous experience and showed the USL PRO team their skills to try to convince them to go to the next level.
