Go Lions!

Houston Dutch Lions FC U14 vs Klein SC U14 Ouzos
Player of the week: Dayton Hyde

The Lions hosted the number 1 in the division and can look back at a very strong first half against a talented team.  Early in the game, the visitors took the lead; besides this early goal, the home team was playing the better soccer.  Attacker Mathew Werleman and midfielder Dayton Hyde both played strong games, and created some small chances.  The visitors scored on a moment nobody likes to see when A few seconds before half time, a very small mistake in the back was converted into the second goal for the visitors.

After halftime, the home team was under pressure and had a lot of difficulties coming off of this pressure.  The pressure resulted into two more goals for the visitors. Quickly after these goals, it was Brody Fickey with a good run and his cross was finished by Mathew Werleman into the goal for the first of the Lions’ day.

After this goal the visitors pressed even harder, resulting in a few more goals. The home team however can look back at a good first half. Playing against the strongest team in the division, they showed that the team has made steps in the right direction!

Houston Dutch Lions FC U17 vs Lufkin U18
Player of the week: Chris Sanchez

The Houston Dutch Lions FC U17 lost their game against Lufkin U18. The young squad from the Lions played a strong game as the team worked as a unit on the field. In the first half, the Lions took the lead by a great goal from Baldomero. Not long after the goal Lufkin score two times.

The Lions knew that they played well and in the second half they wanted to show that they didn’t want to make it easy for the older squad of Lufkin.  For a long time the Lions gave Lufkin a very difficult time. Baldomero almost scored with a beautiful free kick, but the save from the goalie was of amazing quality.  In the final part of the game Lufkin decided the game, but the Lions can look back to a good game!
